Another megaproject in Dubai is the Snowdome, it’s different from the SkyDubai….here is some info & photos about Snowdome……
Snowdome, previously referred to as Dubai Sunny Mountain Skidome, will be a gigantic indoor ski dome project, that will be part of the Attraction and Experience World of the mega tourism project, Dubailand. The AED 3.7 billion (US$ 1 billion) development will cover an area of 1.4 million square feet (130 thousand square meters) and contain a host of snow and ice based activities for children and adults.
Snowdome will be the first of its kind in the Middle East, providing a complete winter experience to its visitors. This indoor ski resort will comprise of a ski dome, residential towers, hotels, a shopping mall, restaurants, coffee shops and other retail outlets.

The ski dome will be a climate controlled transparent steel dome structure, with a 220 meter (722 foot) diameter and 75 meter (246 foot) height. Its entrance will be marked by two huge real-ice columns and the skidome will contain a rotating ski deck/slope, mountain run, training area, snow play area, toboggan run, flying theater, an iceberg-shaped five-star deluxe hotel, pinguinarium, winter aquaria, snow castle, ice-rink, animal statues, 4-season aquaria, snowfall, sound and light effects, as well as cold and warm bath spas. The Snow dome will feature only real snow, around 6,000 tons (5.5 million kilograms), in its +10 degrees Centigrade winter environment.
Snowdome will be surrounded by 9 Iceberg Residences towers and flanked by 2 Crystal Towers, all with winter themed architecture. The Iceberg Residence apartment buildings will screen the snowdome from the early morning sun.
Ski Dubai
This project is sometimes mistaken with Dubai’s other ski development that opened in September 2005 named Ski Dubai. Ski Dubai is a 22,500 square meter (242,187 square foot), 85 meter high and 80 meter wide indoor ski project that maintains a -1 degree temperature, has 5 different runs, and a 3,000 square meter indoor snow park, located in Mall of the Emirates on Sheikh Zayed Road.

Hello all !
Sorry for the delay between posts but i had some problems in past 2 months and i didn’t have time to write
I have decided now to write about Dubai. I saw this city is growing, developing very, very fast. I was there in December 2007 and it’s an amaizing city….wonderfull !!!
Searching on the net i saw a mega project called City of Arabia and i’ve decided to tell you something about that
City of Arabia is a mixed-use tourism development project being built in Dubailand. The AED 7.2 billion (US$ 1.96 billion) will occupy 20 million square feet (1.86 million square meters) and be home to over 35,000 residents. City of Arabia will feature a huge shopping mall, a breathtaking dinosaur theme park, and residential and commercial towers.
Elite Towers (Residential and Commercial Areas)
The residential and commercial area of City of Arabia will contain 34 towers. Four towers will be 60-storeys and be used for commercial and hotel tenants. Twenty 45-storey towers will be allocated for mixed commercial and residential use, while the remaining 10 towers will be 30-storeys high and will be exclusive residential apartments. The hotel towers include a five-star 400-room property built over the entrance of The Mall of Arabia, a boutique hotel on an island in City of Arabia’s 11 km (6.84 mile) canal, and a 45-storey tower near Emirates Road. Some of the towers include Arabian Crowne, Windsor Residencial Apartments, and The Crescent.
The Mall of Arabia
Predicted to be the world’s largest shopping mall, the Mall of Arabia will cover 10 million square feet (0.93 million square meters), have four levels and around 1,000 outlets, contain its own theater, 15-screen cinema and have parking spaces for 10 thousand cars. The retail outlets will be grouped together according to their type and will include the top brands in luxury goods, household items, consumer electronics, children’s toys, and more. Along with the retail outlets, the mall’s themed zones will also contain restaurants, cafes, and entertainment outlets. The shopping mall will be circular in shape and have an ancient Middle Eastern exterior, with the vast theater and auditorium at its center.
Restless Planet Dinosaur Park
This theme park will be developed in collaboration with the Natural History Museum of London and contain three rides and over 100 life-like and life-size animatronic dinosaurs. There will be around 34 different dinosaur species that will be programmed to move, roar, and even walk. This 500 thousand square foot (46.45 thousand square meter) fully air-conditioned theme park will also feature a scientific exhibition of real dinosaur fossil remains, which will give the park an educational twist. Restless Planet will be accessible through the second level of the Mall of Arabia and will be covered by an 85 meter (279 foot) high dome.
Wadi Walk
The City of Arabia canal will be lined with shops, restaurants and cafes, and a fleet of water taxis will connect the residential areas to the mall and theme park. The Wadi Towers will be a complex of 5-storey buildings with Mediterranean architecture along canal with a total of 1,600 apartments.
The Mall of Arabia and the Restless Planet are set to open in the spring of 2008, while the residential and commercial buildings will be completed by the end of 2007. City of Arabia will be connected together by its own monorail system and will be accessible from the Dubai International Airport by the Dubai Light Railway. City of Arabia will be located along Emirates Road and will be next to the Global Village.

It’s getting there, day by day, closer and closer. It’s only a matter of time before mobile projection technology makes its way into the mass market. This concept by Stefano Casanova is a Windows based mobile phone that can project your desktop to an flat surface. The micro light projector is actually integrated into the LCD so in order to activate it, you have to flip the screen down. Conceptual but interesting.

A personal mobile communication device which lets you be free and fun. It is light, simple and carefree. You can change its form according to your needs during the day. You dont have to carry it in your pocket or on your wrist. You can carry it anywhere, in anyform. You can roll it, bend it, put on your clothes like a clip. It also makes some form changes that makes it more ergonomical: i.e. when you want to talk on the phone, the body form turns into the form of the good old telephone. You can personalize these forms and record them. So it fits you the best in the way that you have chosen. Also e-motions let you send forms to other 888 users: i.e. you can send a heart shape to your girlfriend or a dancing figure to your friends to call them to the party tonight. This way you can talk without words.
Tamer Nakisci explains in detail about this work.
*technologies that are used
It uses liquid battery, speech recognition, flexible touch screen, touch sensitive body cover which lets it understand and adjust to the environment. It has a simple programmable body mechanism so that it changes forms in different situations.
*the functionality of design
You dont have to carry it in your pocket or on your wrist. You can carry it anywhere, in anyform. You can roll it, bend it, put on your clothes like a clip. It also makes some form changes that makes it more ergonomical: i.e. when you want to talk on the phone, the body form turns into the form of the good old telephone. You can personalize these forms and record them. So it fits you the best in the way that you have chosen. The functions that it has also create a feeling of electronical pet, as it senses your moves, understand what you want, respond you in the best way. It learns you, to fit you better. Also e-motions lets you send forms to the other 888 users. It could be the shape of a heart or a small dance. This way you can talk without words.
*how the user interacts
E-motions… It means electronical motions that 888 has. You can send and receive forms from / to friends. You can send a heart shape to your girlfriend, so her telephone turns into an icon of heart. Or you can send a dancing form to your friends to call them to the party tonight. This is the fun side of the product. If we look from the functionality side, 888 is quite flexible. You can put it into your pocket, roll it and make it smaller, or put on your wrist when you want to make a video call on the go. If you want to talk like a normal telephone, there you have your telephone shape. We go through a lot of places and situations in the daily life, so it seems like one form is not enough.
*what is unique
You can change the form of the body. Not just the color. And you can do the same by sending an e-motion to your friend.
*the inspiration
The idea is that “the perfect form” does not exist. “Form follows you” We create the perfect form for each function.

The Butterfly is a social networking device designed to give the optimal experience of being connected to an educational life-style for the teenage audience. There are 3 big factors of the Butterfly that make it a unique product: the design, connectivity and interaction.
The Butterfly has a very unique design. The device uses a “tilting” slide mechanism that elegantly reveals the display from below the player which slides out at a comfortable 15 degree angle. All “physical buttons were removed and replaced with a touch screen on the front of the player. The touch screen interacts with the main screen to give a seamless interface between the device and the user. The device is also coated with silver nanoparticles to prevent collection of bacteria.
The device also functions as a GSM phone with Wi-Fi connectivity. The connection to the web opens up to many opportunities. Students will be able to get the most recent updates from the school, get access to school resources, IM friends, share media, email and browse the web. Built-in organization programs will be also automatically updated to match the official school calender.
